Transforming Memory Care

Through education, collaboration, and support

After my husband’s Alzheimer’s diagnosis, the DCC support group helped me cope with my new responsibilities and accept the uncertainty of what’s to come."

-Janet Hookailo, care partner

About the Dementia Care Collaborative

The Collaborative was created to educate and support patients, caregivers, healthcare providers, and the community. Dedicated team members offer opportunities for learning and connecting across the hospital and into the community at large, with the goals of teaching new ways of understanding dementia, how to best communicate and partner with those living with dementia and to offer support and guidance for caregivers to feel empowered to foster their own wellbeing and resilience.

Tai Chi/Qigong with Ellen DeGenova

April 1, 2025 5:30-6:30pm EST

As a caregiver, Ellen DeGenova knows firsthand the rewards and many challenges of dementia caregiving. The to-do list can be daunting and it’s easy to get stuck on the rumination station. Simple tai chi movements and concepts can help change the channel. We’ll explore basic tai chi warm-ups, shapes, and elements – all in the spirit of kind curiosity and respite. It is possible to find ballast in the eye of the storm. Ellen DeGenova is a certified instructor of the Tree of Life’s Eight Active Ingredients of Tai Chi Teacher Training Program. Here is her website: https://www.ellendtaichi.com/

Join us Tuesday, April 1, 2025 at 5:30 – 6:30pm EST via Zoom.
