Fundamental Skills for Living with Dementia

 

  • Course 1Speak the Language of Dementia: A New Way of Communicating
    Learn to understand, respond and connect in meaningful ways when the old ways of communicating are less effective.
  • Course 2Minimize Challenging Behavioral Symptoms
    Learn about Habilitation, an evidence based and effective approach to care in the most challenging times.
  • Course 3Balance Independence and Safety: Predicting the Unpredictable
    Learn when and how to make necessary changes at home.

Courses are offered monthly, alternating between a morning and evening offering every other month.

Fridays 10-11:30AM EST     

January 7th, 14th, 21st and 27th

March 11th, 18th, 25th and April 1st

May 13th, 20th, 27th, and June 3rd

Mondays 4-5:30PM EST

February 7th, 14th, 28th and March 7th

April 11th, 18th, 25th and May 1st

June 6th, 13th, 20th and 27th

All courses are offered by Zoom or phone.

Due to limited capacity, the Dementia Care Collaborative can provide individualized and small group services to patients who are seen in the following MGH clinics:

  • Neurology Memory Disorder Unit
  • Geriatric Psychiatry
  • Senior Health
  • Memory Care Program at Bullfinch Medical Group
  • Memory Care Program at Newton Wellesley 978 Clinic
  • Memory Care Program at Newton Wellesley Primary Care of Wellesley
